Yorkshire Terrier Breed Information



The Yorkshire Terrier is a lively long-haired toy breed. He is sweet and happy and generous with his kisses. Your Yorkie will have a lot of energy when young, and enjoy his toys to no end. He will probably love to be held, and will jump onto the sofa as soon as you sit down, unless you teach him to wait for an invitation. Some Yorkies follow their humans everywhere around the house, others just keep an eye out for you without following, but whether your pup is a follower or a watcher, you can be sure you are the most important thing in his life.

Although the Yorkie learns easily, he will not necessarily obey your commands. If you want a cute little pet to indulge and pamper, consider a Yorkie, but if you want a good citizen pup who always obeys, look elsewhere.

The Yorkie is a good watch-dog when he can see out the windows. He barks to alert you that something is going on, but may do so at inappropriat times, like when you are on the phone.
